The International Panel on Chemical Pollution (IPCP) is an independent assembly of academic scientists committed to providing objective assessments of research on chemical pollution and waste. IPCP serves as a platform for academic researchers to contribute to regional and global chemical management policies.
Founded in 2008, IPCP was established in response to growing awareness of the complex chemical mixtures to which humans and the environment are exposed, as well as the critical need to strengthen the dialogue between science and policy. IPCP seeks to lead efforts in identifying priority concerns and bridging the gap between scientific research and policy-making. Through these efforts, the organization contributes to shaping chemicals and waste management policies on regional, national, and international levels.
The objectives of IPCP are to:
– Initiate, prepare, and disseminate concise state-of-the-science documentation on environmentally relevant chemicals.
– Act internationally and support countries with specific needs by improving scientific knowledge on chemical management challenges.
– Provide scientific expertise to international organizations, national governments, and other stakeholders for discussions and reviews of the scientific basis for chemical management.
– Facilitate dialogue between the scientific and policy communities by offering a platform for interaction and collaboration.
IPCP membership is open to academic scientists worldwide.
